Koh Kood Sub-district
Koh Kood
is
the second largest island of the Koh-Chang National Marine Park. It is located
further southeast of Koh Chang and takes 4 1/2 hours by ferry from Laem Ngob.
Koh Kuts landscape is quite simmilar to that of Koh Chang. Being further south
and less populated , Koh Kood is less developed. Besides it's sun, sand and sea
elements the Klong Jao Waterfall or Tan Sanuk Waterfall is another scenic attraction
on the island. There are 7 resorts on the island which caters of the higher priced
markets. Room Rates is about 2,000 Baht/Night or above. Usually these rates include
transportation.
Koh Maak
is
situated between Koh-Chang and Koh Kood. Although third largest in the group of
island it has an area of only about 16 square kilometers.The beach on the northwest
of the island is a beauty. About one-third of the land is covered by rainforest
while coconut plantations and Rubber trees take up the majority of the island.
Fishing, diving, cycling ,boating and motorbiking are favourite past times.
Koh Kradad
is situated to the northeast
of Koh Maak. It derived its name from the Kradad trees. Koh Kradad has its historical
significance as being the first island to be issued land title deeds. This was
actually a deterrent of the French aggression on the island. During the French
colonisation of Indochina Koh Kradad was targeted as a possible territory of expansion.
King Rama V ordered the issuance of title deeds for Koh Kradad to confirm Thailand's
sovereignty over the island. The long white beach and the corals in its vicinity
are the main attractions. There is only one known resort so far, the Koh Kradad
Resort , which include transportation in their room rates. Getting to Koh Kradad
takes about 2 to 3 hours from Laem Ngob.
Koh
Lao Ya
is a group of islands south of Koh-Chang.
The group is made up of Koh Lao Ya Nai, Koh Lao Ya Klang and Koh Lao Ya Nok. Transportation
from Laem Ngob takes about 2 and a half hours. The islands are famed for their
beaches, clear water and colourful corals.
Koh
Wai
is situated further south and is about twice the size
of Koh Lao Ya. It has many scenic bays, rich coral zones and beaches some of which
are ladened with an abundance of stones. Koh Wai is a haven for those who love
fishing. As for accommodations, Koh Wai Pakarung Resort and Koh Wai Paradise are
ready to serve tourists.
Koh
Khlum
was a battleground during the French
colonisation of Indochina.Koh Khlum is also suitable for fishing. It has
an impressive landscape.
Koh Phrao
is in front of Salakpetch Bay. From Laem Ngob, it takes
two hours to the island. Koh Phrao has clean and calm sea with cool and shady
beaches covered by coconuts trees.
Koh
Rung
is a small island on the west of Koh
Maak. This little isle do not have enough flat land for construction of accommodation
facilities.However, it is a relatively important island as it is a major source
of bird nests,"Charamed" eggs and bat's dung. Stone knolls and deep-water
corals under the sea of Koh Rung are fascinating.
Koh
Ngam
is situated south of Koh-Chang and
comprises of two island with a huge sand knoll in between.Koh Ngam is blessed
by the beauty of its bay which is part of a mountain extending into the sea.Travelling
time is two hours from Laem Ngob.
